For her success and exposure, it's Jenna Haze for me. Turns 28 this year, been in the business for nearly nine years, and is a superstar.

This thread is indicative of one of the major faults to which popular culture tends. If you watch a countdown of the top acts of the decade on VH1 or MTV, you often hit the same snag. People always weight the recap of the decade towards the last few years, rather than taking the average of the entire span of time.

For example, no one has mentioned Aurora Snow, to name just one of the missing names. Aurora Snow entered the business in 2000, and for several years was one of the top female performers. I don't say the top, but several years of extremely high popularity and productivity translates to quite a footprint on the decade. And yet no one has mentioned her.

Others who are conspicuous in their absence include Julie Meadows (1998 - 2005), Lauren Phoenix (2003 - 2008), Belladonna (Who should probably be one of the top contenders for "Pornstar of the Decade" on the weight of number of projects and awards, if for no other reason.), Jesse Jane (2002 - 2009, waiting to see if she continues to work this year), and Teagan Presley (2004 - present). And this list is far from complete.

If this is merely a question of "Who was your favorite pornstar from the last decade?" then anyone who performed even a single scene in that period is eligible. And, of course, there would be no question of debate if we are all simply naming our favorites. But if we are attempting to hammer out who had the biggest impact on porn and viewers for the decade, or who had the greatest popularity within that period of time, then this thread is already off to a pretty skewed start. No mention of Tera Patrick? I mean, come on! She's not even on my list of favorites (though I do like much of her work), and yet I can recognize that she is unquestionably one of the two most popular and prominent sex performers of the last ten years, alongside Jenna Jameson.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I just don't think that this thread is realistic or objective as a review of the last ten years in porn. I think that it is extraordinarily weighted towards the last few years and internet porn.
    Porn Stars are people too.

Any period of ten years is a decade. Just the most popular use of the term is to describe something like the 60's, 90's etc etc. But as said ANY period of ten years is technically a decade as it only reffers to the amount fo time that has passed and is not restricted by specific calander years.

So the next year I'll post a new Pornastar of the Decade thread, and another one at Jan 2012. Your argument haven't sense. Franklin wrote :"The Pornstars of the Decade 2000- 2009" They are 10 years but they aren't the "zero" years.

I agree with your argument. While it is true that every set of ten years is a decade, trying to use this definition for the purposes of measuring cultural shifts would be ridiculous.

Indeed! I'm fucking bored of all the media here ( Italy ) who have published some articles, opinions and polls about "the man of the decade", "the sportman of the decade", "the event of the decade"...Ignorants!

lol, people clearly took my statement way to serioulsy. I was simply trying to point how ridiculous the whole aspect of debating what can and cannot be called a decade was by getting over the top techinical.

But if it's so important that we establish this I'll jump onboard in a more serious fashion.

When you talk about "something of the decade" in pop culture it more or less always reffers to the ten digits of the calander year as in 1970-79 (i.e. the 70's). We are simply discussing the top pornstar of the 00's here. Since January first 2010 marks the start of the 10's. It's a widely used measure for decades in this respect. So if the thread had been named something along the lines of "Greatest pornstar of the 00's" this whole ridiculous discussion about decades would never have taken place and we could just have focussed on the point of the thread.

Having said that I'm not saying the notion of measuring a decade as for example January 1st 1991- December 31st 2000 is a wrong way of doing it. As in other situations it might be better. All I'm saying in this situation the measure used is wide spread and fully acceptabel, and as stated earlier the only reason this whole pointless discussion took place to begin with is due to the fact that it wasn't specified that it's the top star of the 00's.

Tbh, I think it's pretty sure to say it's impossible to make a truly objective "greatest whatever" list in anything. First of all different people have different definitions of what constitutes greatness as well as different tastes. This is no different than asking the question of who is the greatest football player ever. You'll get loads of different answers even if you ask the so called experts.

Short of someone comming up with something along the lines of a way to physically measure the effect of each and every ponstar in each and every scene on everyone in the world and scoring it on some sort of "excitement scale" and finally figuring out the average rating for every pornstar we'll never get a fully objective list.

Most importantly though, does it really need to be such serious business? End of the day we are just porn fans on a forum trying to see who everyone else thinks has been the best in the last 10 years for the fun of it.

It is possible. Brett Favre is the greatest NFL player of all times. It's not an opinion. It is a fact! Call Jesus right now. He even told me Brett is the best!

I agree that a certain amount of subjectivity is unnavoidable. However, a considerable degree of objectivity is possible, and desirable, in my opinion.

Taking Tera Patrick as an example again, as I stated before, she is not a favorite of mine. She wouldn't even be on my top 50 list, despite the fact that I think she's beautiful, consistenly gives a good performance, I think she has a very good attitude, and I've enjoyed every scene I've seen her in. I just don't like her enough to put her on my list of favorites. And yet I can realize, considering the matter objectively, that anyone who has had as much impact on the popular culture as she has, and who has sustained such high levels of popularity for such a long time, should be a shoe-in for a list of "the greatest of the decade."

So what I'm saying is that I think that a relatively high degree of objectivity is possible, but that I don't think it's showing up here.

In addition to a mean of excitement caused by their scenes, it would also be important to consider how prolific each performer has been, awards from critics organizations and other public recognition for their work, and influence on and recognition by the mainstream media. There are probably other criteria which could be added, as well.

I agree with you that whatever is said in this forum is not going to change the world, and that our private enjoyment of this pornography is and should be more important to us than anyone's opinion of who "the greatest" is. What I'm saying is that if this just a thread for us to post about our favorites, then cool, but if we're supposed to engage in discussion on who could be considered "the greatest" under any set of relatively objective criteria, then the thread is extremely lopsided.
    Porn Stars are people too.

I'm sure that is fake. They have a lot of fake stuff in scenes with pornstars names and scenes on books, posters, cases, etc.

That's the longest running ZZ gag of all time. I think that came from a TLIB scene from mid-'08.
